BLURB
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: he kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together, they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead -keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curse and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.
Book Review:
First thing that got inside my mind when I saw this book on Goodreads is curiosity. I didn’t read the synopsis online and waited for the right time to read it right in the back of the book. And when I finally did, I kind of regret a little because the story is kind of predictable. It’s not a usual kind of story but the flow is quite obvious. However, I still gave it a chance.
When I started reading it, I kept reminding myself that I’m reading a paranormal book. It wasn’t a page turner at first and it’s a slow progress in reading, but as time goes by, it’s getting intense and interesting. Especially that the kind of writing is just enough for my liking that it really gave me a gruesome image of Anna in my mind and how she killed her victims. While reading it, I always have the feeling that there’ll always be something creepy that’s just hiding around the corner. It gives the creeps and the feels at the same time, but more of the creeps. I would occasionally put the book down because of the spooky and creepy parts just to avoid being scared. The ending wasn’t much of a cliffhanger. It didn’t gave me the urge to read the second book immediately. Because, somehow, I know that Cas will really look for Anna, she’s the first girl that Cas liked.
Anna Dressed in Blood is the first paranormal-romantic book I’ve ever read and I can say that the genre combination wasn’t so bad even though the plot, as I said, is predictable.
P.S
It’s bad where the book is almost at the end and that’s when Anna and Cas kissed. Like, could they do it a little bit early? And yes, they kissed. I also didn’t know how they managed to that but, yeah, they kissed.
Spread the love!
