REVIEW

Thanks to the publisher who gave me the chance to review this book via Netgalley.

Honestly speaking I don’t know what to rate this book or how to review it. I don’t even know where to start. Maybe on first impression? Right.

First impression of this book is it will be a good book. It was good in the beginning while I’m still learning the characters and the flow of the story. It was smooth sailing and good. It wasn’t until around 20% of the book that I’m starting to get confused.

The story is way too fast. Everything in the book happened really really fast. That moment where the book was still introducing Fawn and Caleb and then the next minute they were teacher and student learning magic together and then another minute they were in love and then the next betrayal and Fawn is in hell and everything just keeps going messy? (I meant in the story) Like seriously. It was so fast that I thought I’m almost at the end but I was actually just in the middle of the first 50% of the book.

The narration is fine. I didn’t had a hard time imagining the story inside my head because it’s somehow a little detailed narration but not totally detailed. Although, there’s only one tiny problem. My English Professor once said that you cannot appreciate a song without its melody because the melody brings out the emotions and the feelings. That’s the case in Belgrave Legacy. It has lyrics and thoughts but it doesn’t have emotions. I didn’t feel a thing while reading this book. I didn’t even felt the love Fawn and Caleb have for each other. Even though Fawn was said to be mad towards the devil, I didn’t felt it that much. It was like I was just reading a textbook from our university –plain.

Not to mention the climax part of the story. Was that really how they fought their battle? From the book, it was described like it was the battle of the century, the chosen girl fighting the devil Lucifer. But why did it ended way too soon and way too easy? It’s like I’ve read the whole battle scene in less than a minute. Even with someone dying and then brought back from the dead right after, it’s still wasn’t enough for me to say that it was a good battle scene. And some of the parts where there are actually big things that got revealed, it feels like they just shrug it off easily. Like, how would you feel if you’ll know that your bestfriend is actually a siren who happens to be your twin brother’s soulmate? Shocking right? How about knowing that your ex-boyfriend is actually a wolf? More shocking right? But Fawn handled it way too easily. Sure she was shocked for like ten seconds and then wouldn’t think about again anymore. I’m not saying that she should really totally shocked but her reaction is somehow lacking for me. I think I’m not using the right words but I hope you all get my point.

And it looks like this book is a fanfiction of a certain series. The Supernatural series. Is it? I feel like it. Like, if Supernatural was put into books and change it into a romance story instead of brotherly love, this would be the outcome. Though instead of guns and holy waters this is spells and magic and witchcraft. I’m a fan of Supernatural so I couldn’t really help but to think that this was based on the series. Maybe if this was written before Supernatural, I would think otherwise.

I’m not saying that this is a bad book. It’s just plain and still needs improving but then who am I to say that, right? I’m just a reviewer and a book blogger not an editor or whatever. But that’s my review. Though if you’re a fan of the Supernatural series or just want to read some romance books which includes witches and angels, this is a perfect book for you.

Don’t let my review ruin your expectations towards the book. We all have different opinions towards same things so I say give this book a try. Maybe you will like it the way I didn’t much.
